In 1550 the Flintlock was invented, using a flint against steel
strikes and creates the spark that ignites the powder.
The first known model comes from the Netherlands and is called Schnapphann.

It was an ineffective weapon as only a single shot could be fired due to reloading

The mechanism of the pistol is fully articulated, but cannot be fired.
